RON DAVIS

PASTOR & SCHOOL ADMINISTRATOR 42 (45)

Ron Davis has served at Sumter Christian School since 1983 when he began teaching sixth grade. He became administrator/principal in 1990, and on October 18, 2009, he was called as pastor of Sumter Bible Church, the school's founding church. He received a B.S. degree in Bible from Liberty Baptist College in Lynchburg, Virginia. He then earned a Master of Divinity and a Masters degree in Christian Education from Liberty Baptist Seminary (now Liberty University). Pastor Davis was a pastor for three years in Powhatan, Virginia before coming to Sumter Christian School and Sumter Bible Church. He was born and reared in nearby Bishopville, SC. He and his wife Lucy, who has served with him in this ministry since 1983, have two grown children and two grandchildren.

MATTHEW MARRITT

Matthew Marritt grew up in the small town of Meaford in Ontario, Canada where God called him into education at the young age of nine. After earning his Bachelors of Science in secondary education with an emphasis on history and business from Pensacola Christian College in Pensacola, Florida, he went on to teach for two years at Kingston Bible College and Academy in Kingston, Nova Scotia. Mr. Marritt began his ministry at Sumter Christian School in 2011 teaching high school history and various other courses. As a member of Sumter Bible Church, he serves as a deacon, the chairman of the missions committee, a school committee member, and the church/school bookkeeper. In 2019, he took on the responsibilities of assistant principal and in 2021 he became full time principal. Mr. Marritt completed his Master’s in Educational Leadership from Pensacola Christian College in 2023.  He and his wife Miriam are active members of the ministries of Sumter Bible Church with their three young children.

LUCY DAVIS

Administrative Supervisor 42 (42)

Lucy Davis has served as the Administrative Supervisor along side her husband, Pastor Ron Davis, since 2009. Her responsibilities are ministry wide as she serves as Church and School secretary, Office Manager, Day Care Supervisor, and Elementary Supervisor. She was reared in Kentucky. She and her husband Ron, who have lived in Sumter since 1983, have two grown children and two grandchildren.

Kevin Barber

Area Supervisor 4 (9)

Kevin Barber joined the faculty of Sumter Christian School in 2021 where he is currently in his ninth year of teaching. He previously taught in Christian schools in West Virginia and Pennsylvania. In addition to teaching in the middle school and high school, he serves as a student council faculty sponsor. He was born and raised in Maryland and spent some of his childhood in Australia. He was converted at 6 years old and called to the ministry in 2012 after taking two separate mission trips to Romania in 2011 and Ukraine in 2012. In 2016, he graduated with his Bachelor of Biblical Studies in Missions from The Crown College of the Bible where he was able to spend a semester abroad in the U.K., and he completed his Master of Science in Educational Leadership from Bob Jones University in 2020. The projected graduation date for his Ph.D. in Education with a Specialization in Organizational Leadership from Liberty University is December of 2024. In September of 2024, he became the area supervisor of the middle school and high school.
